Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-05-02
Only What Matters (the app) is a minimalist news and disclosures aggregator for iOS. This policy explains what data the app handles and what it intentionally does not.
What the app stores on your device
- App preferences — your chosen language, theme, and the 6-dimension Impact weights you set in Personalized Impact. These live in iOS
UserDefaultson your device only. - News bundle cache — the latest daily briefings the app has fetched, cached locally so the app can open offline. The cache is keyed by date and contains only public, already-published content.
What the app does not do
- No user accounts. The developer never sees your identity, email, or app activity.
- No analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no tracking pixels.
- No third-party servers receive any signal from the app.
- No remote configuration, no feature-flag service, no push notification service.
How data flows
The app fetches Markdown briefings directly from a public GitHub archive repository (financial-market-report-archive-from-finance-jeffliulab-com). The fetch is a plain HTTPS request to GitHub's raw content host; GitHub may log the request per its own privacy policy, but no developer-operated server is ever involved. The app does not upload any data anywhere.
The Personalized Impact weights you set are stored only in your device's UserDefaults. They are not synchronized to iCloud, are not sent to any server, and are not shared between devices. Reinstalling the app deletes them along with all other local data.
Logging
The app uses Apple's OSLog framework with the subsystem com.jeffliulab.only-what-mattersfor diagnostic messages. These logs live entirely on your device, are subject to iOS's usual log-rotation policies, and are visible only to you (or to Apple if you choose to share a sysdiagnose). The developer never receives them.
Public data, no personalization at the source
Everything the app shows — daily briefings, institutional moves (13F filings, public trading disclosures), and Impact tags — is derived from public sources. The app aggregates and ranks for clarity; it does not personalize the underlying content per user, and it never receives your reading history.
Children
The app contains no social features, no advertising, no in-app purchases, and no external links beyond official policy / disclosure pages. It does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, a notice will appear in-app and the effective date at the top of this page will be updated. The app does not require you to re-accept; it has no terms of service to accept.
